Bali - where I go to dream, stargaze... and eat!

Ubud in Bali is my absolute favourite place in the world!  Its where I saw the light bugs for the first time in ten years in the rice fields at midnight. It was the Full Moon and the shadows of the palm trees looked magical!

The reason I remembered about Bali and wanted to share with you is quite mundane: I am absolutely starving right now!!! And because of that I thought of the best meal I had in a long time in a small restaurant in Seminyak. It was my final night in Bali and I went for my last full body massage to the devine BodyWorks and wanted to grab somthing to eat afterwards.

Round the corner from the spa there was a small place that looked colourful and inviting - a bit like a bar, a bit like a restaurant. It was buzzing and I was not sure if I was going to get a table. All I wanted was a quick meal before I go back to my hotel to pack my bags and get some sleep before the early morning flight to London.  I got a seat, got an amazing meal of scallops and red snapper and a great service! The waitresses all wore beautiful watermelon summer frocks and looked amazing! I was approached by the co-owner of the place (who obviously felt sorry for me sitting at my table all on my own where everyone else had company) and we chatted for a while, before he invited me to a large table, where a party of 14 Australians were celebrating the restaurant's opening and an upcoming wedding they were attending the next day. They were all very nice but I couldn't help thinking how very underdressed I was in my now greasy from the massage oil, navy blue long T-shirt featuring a Bali sunset, bought for £1.50 on  a market outside Tanah Lot temple the day before. Not only was I wearing a greasy outfit among a group of glamorously dressed beautiful Aussies, but I also had no make up and no bra on! I was quietly embarrased, but was pretending not to care and concentrated on the conversation. Which were great by the way and we shared some wicked stories. All in all I had a great time and probably would have stayed longer if before leaving my hotel room that night, I would have decided to make a little more effort! Because of that little story and because I consider this place my discovery, Sea Circus is very close to my heart. And the food is really the best in the world. During my visit they had a chef from Sydney who won many accolades. The ambience is very cool and quirky so when you are in Bali do go and visit! It is pretty damn good! Oh, and the music in that place absolutely rocks!

Miasteczko Ubud na wyspie Bali to moje ulubione miejsce na ziemi! To tu po raz pierwszy od 10 lat zobaczylam swietliki o polnocy spacerujac po tarasach ryzowych! Byla pelnia ksiezyca i cienie rzucane przez palmy wygladaly magicznie!Ale powod dla ktorego sobie przypomnialam Bali to to ze jest w tym momencie cholernie glodna! I wlasnie dlatego przypomniala mi sie najwspanialsza kolacja jaka kiedykolwiek jadlam! Stalo sie to podczas mojej ostatniej nocy na Bali w miejscowosci Seminyak w malej restauracyjce.  Po ostatnim masazu we wspanialym spa BodyWorks postanowilam poszukac miejsca by zjesc szybka kolacje przed powrotem do hotelu, spakowaniem sie i snem przed moim porannym lotem powrotnym do Londynu.

Tuz za rogiem odkrylam mala knajpke - ni to bar, ni to restauracja - i postanowilam tam zajzec. Panowal tam straszny ruch, ale mimo to udalo mi sie dostac nie tylko stolik, ale i wspanialy posilek (pyszne przegrzebki i red snapper - jesli ktos wie jak to przetlumaczyc na polski to prosze o kontakt :P), ale takze swietna obsluge! 

To miejsce tetnilo zyciem, kolorami, a kelnerki byly ubrane w super letnie sukienki w kolorze arbuza i wygladaly oszalamiajaco! Dosiadl sie do mine wspolwlasciciel (jak sie pozniej okazalo)tej restauracji (widocznie ze wspolczucia jako ze ja bylam jedyna osoba w calej restauracji, ktora nie miala towarzystwa przy stoliku) i po krotkiej rozmowie zaprosil minie bym przylaczyla sie do stolu, gdzie 14cioro jego Australijskich przyjaciol swietowalo otwarcie tej oto restauracji oraz slub na ktory wszysci byli zaproszeni nastepnego dnia. Cale towarzystwo bylo bardzo mile i rozmowne, jednak ja nie moglam przestac myslec o tym jak zupelnie nie pasowalam do ich szykownej grupy. Ja w mojej wytluszczonym po przebytym masazu, dlugim, granatowym T-shircie z nadrukowanym zachodem slonca, ktory kupilam poprzedniego dnia na targu przy swiatyni Tanah Lot za jedyne poltorej Funta! Jakby tego bylo malo, nie mialam makijazu, i co gorsze nie zalozylam biustonosza, podczas gdy cale towarzystwo mialo swiezo wymodelowane wlosy i ubrania z lokalnych butikow!!!  Strasznie mi bylo glupio ale probowalam to ukryc i skoncentrowac sie na rozmowie. A rozmowa byla na szczescie bardzo interesujaca!

Mimo wpadki z tlustym wdziankiem i brakiem biustonosza, bawilam sie swietnie i pewnie zostalabym dluzej, gdybym miala wiecej rozumu w glowie i nie opuscila hotelu w ubraniu nie nadajacym sie nawet na plaze!

 Dzieki tej zabawnej historii moje wspaniale odkrycie, jakim jest Sea Circus jest zawsze bliskie memu sercu! To wspaniale menu to dzelo australijskiego kucharza, ktory porzucil posadke w renomowanej restauracji w Sydney i przeprowadzil sie na Bali by pracowac w Sea Circus! Kolorowe i gustowne wnetrze z wyszukanymi akcesoriami jest dodatkowym powodem dla ktorego Sea Circus jest warte odwiedzenia, jesli jestes na Bali! Nie wspominajac juz rewelacyjnej muzyki jaka wypelnia ta knajpke! Same plusy!!!
